The mission of the Advocacy & Support Center (ASC) is to reduce the incidence of and effects of sexual victimization. This is accomplished through the provision of a wide array of services to victims and community members including crisis counseling, therapy, advocacy, support, information/referral, consultation, and education.
The ASC, a non-profit organization, is a rape crisis and child sexual abuse program that serves the Lincoln Trail Are Development District of Kentucky, which is an eight county region. Those counties include Breckinridge, Grayson, Hardin, LaRue, Marion, Meade, Nelson and Washington.
A victim of sexual crimes can experience a wide array of emotional reactions. These reactions can be very overpowering. The ASC tries to help victims and their families with these predictable reactions by providing services and support to victims at the hospital, police station, in court, and by operating a 24-hour crisis line. Our volunteer program incorporates members of the community to aid these victims and ease their suffering in their greatest time of need. It is extremely important to join many hands together on the sensitive subject of sexual abuse and sexual assault in order to heal the traumatic touch of abuse.
